cardiff airportCardiff Airport (Maes Awyr Caerdydd) is an international airport serving Cardiff, South, Mid and West Wales. It’s located 12 miles west of the center of Cardiff in the village of Rhoose. Cardiff is the country’s most popular airport because Cardiff is the capital of Wales and the largest city. It is the only airport in Wales with international flights. The majority of international flights are to Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands though there are also flights to the United States and Caribbean.

Cardiff airport is 10 miles from junction 33 on the M4. To get to the airport by road take exit junction 33 on the M4 and follow the signs to Cardiff Airport along the A4232, A4050 and A4226. All drivers picking up or dropping off should follow the Pick up/drop off signs. There are a few options for pick up and dropping off. There is Priority drop and go which is a paid service. There is Priority pick up also which is paid. Free drop off and pick up is allowed for 20 minutes and parking is available in Long Stay 1.

Getting to Cardiff Airport by rail is also easy. A rail link connects Cardiff Airport to Cardiff Central and Bridgend with trains running every hour from Monday to Saturday and every two hours on Sundays. A complimentary shuttle bus service is available for passengers with a valid train ticket, which connects with all trains to carry passengers on the short journey to the airport terminal.

There are Internet Kiosks available in several places throughout Cardiff Airport: two in the check in hall which also have printing facilities, one in the landside food hall on first floor, four in the departure lounge. These are not free and you’ll be charged 10p a minute with extra charges for printing.

A battery charging service for a variety of mobile phones is also available in the kiosk for passengers to charge their phones before departing at no extra cost.

There is wifi through the airport but it is not free. You have to subscribe online to BT Openzone wireless internet access before travelling to the airport.

There is an Executive Lounge available whether you are travelling for business or pleasure. You can sign up for access to the lounge on Cardiff Airport’s website. There is a cost for this. Kids are allowed as long as they are over 10 years old. The lounge has alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks, light bites, newspapers & magazines, TV, Free use of internet terminals, Wi-Fi (BT Openzone rates apply), telephone, fax & photocopier facilities, soft furnishings, access to private washrooms.

The stores at Cardiff Airport are Nuance Tax and Duty Free and WH Smith. The Nuance Tax and Duty Free store has fragrance, wines & spirits, cosmetics, confectionery, clothing and music and electronics. WHSmith has a full range of newspapers, books, snacks, gifts, tobacco and confectionery.
